An airborne electromagnetic (AEM) geophysical survey has identified 19 potential exploration targets in the T3 Dome area of the Kalahari Copper Belt project of Metal Tiger and MOD Resources in Botswana. The targets include discrete, formational and deeper conductive anomalies.
The survey flown by Metal Tiger’s exploration partner MOD indicates that several anomalies show similarities to the ground EM signature at T3. It was flown over 50km of the T3 Dome.
The A1, A2 and A3 anomalies are directly along strike from the large Banana Zone copper resources owned by Cupric Canyon Capital.
It is the first time AEM has been trialled in this area of the Kalahari Copper Belt. The interpretation has been undertaken by Botswana-based consultants Spectral Geophysics, with the helicopter survey flown by New Resolution Geophysics (NRG) of South Africa.
The AEM survey has been flown to help fast track exploration for potential 'T3 type' vein hosted and 'structural contact type' copper/silver deposits, along the highly prospective and largely unexplored T3 Dome structure. Similar surveys were reportedly flown over the Boseto mine area, 120km northeast of T3 during the late 1990s and successfully detected several of the large structural contact type copper deposits in that area.
Metal Tiger’s CEO Michael McNeilly said, “We are delighted to report on the findings of a provisional interpretation of the Airborne Electromagnetic survey data. The AEM data will prove an important tool to help focus exploration efforts on the discovery of further T3 type copper/silver deposits along the T3 Dome.
“Whilst it is too early to determine whether these 19 anomalies are directly related to copper mineralisation, the large number and variety of these anomalies provides exciting possibilities.
“Each anomaly will now be evaluated in conjunction with existing ground survey data, including soil geochemistry and the geological team will be prioritising each target for drill testing."
The T3 project in northern Botswana and is part of the MOD/Metal Tiger joint venture Botswana Copper/Silver Project. It is parallel to the same structural trend known as the Mahumo Structural Corridor that hosts MOD's Mahumo project and Cupric Capitals' Banana Zone Deposit and Zone 5 Project.
Meantime, RFC Ambrian announces that it has been appointed Nomad and Broker to Metal Tiger with immediate effect. It says, “This is a really interesting company that is developing a number of projects around the world. It’s growing a portfolio of investments in the resource space and runs an asset trading desk that covers equities, warrants and royalty trading.
“The group is headed by CEO Michael McNeilly, non-executive chairman Charles Hall, FD Keith Springall and technical director Geoff McIntyre. Non-executive directors are Geoff McIntyre, Terry Grammer and Mark Potter, founder and partner of Sita Capital Partners LLP and a former director and CIO for the Anglo Pacific Group and Audley Capital.
The company’s flagship project is its 30% stake in the T3 high-grade copper/silver deposit in Botswana. T3 had a maiden JORC mineral resource estimate released in September 2016 of 28.36 million tonnes @ 1.24% copper and 15.7 g/t silver, containing around 350,200 tonnes of copper and 14.27 million ounces of silver, with a high-grade core of 8.48 million tonnes @ 2.16% copper and 30.6 g/t silver.
