AMN - DRC: Best result to date at Kebigada

Recent drilling by Amani Gold at the Kebigada deposit of its Giro Gold Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has returned the best result to date of 105 metres @ 7.33 g/t gold. Amani will follow-up with diamond drilling which it hopes will provide a better understanding of controls on high-grade mineralisation.

The infill program commenced in mid-February and has comprised eight RC holes for 1121 metres. Giro is within the Moto Greenstone Belt in DRC’s northeast.

The 105-metre intersection included 4 metres from 6 metres @ 7.77 g/t; 36 metres from 14 metres @ 6.56 g/t, including 14 metres from 15 metres @ 15.15 g/t; and 65 metres from 74 metres @ 7.73 g/t, including 44 metres from 85 metres @ 10.69 g/t, which also included 1 metre from 107 metres @ 179 g/t and 4 metres from 135 metres @ 4.62 g/t. The hole ended in high-grade mineralisation which is open down-dip.

Another hole returned 9 metres from 82 metres @ 10.44 g/t, including 4 metres from 82 metres @ 22.22 g/t; and another returned 7 metres from 76 metres @ 7.17 g/t, including 3 metres @ 15.84 g/t.

The drilling has extended Kebigada mineralisation further south.

Results for a further nine RC holes and two diamond holes are expected shortly and Amani expects to receive all results by mid-May. A maiden Kebigada resource estimate is expected before the end of the June quarter.

Amani chairman Klaus Eckhof said: “This exceptional result of 105 metres @ 7.33g/t gold confirms our belief that Kebigada has the potential to become a substantial standalone deposit. This result is similar to some of the better results reported at Kibali during the exploration phase. We eagerly await results of a diamond hole planned to twin this RC hole to determine the true width of the zone of mineralisation.

“The infill drilling has certainly highlighted the high grade potential at Kebigada and the potential for high grade zones of mineralisation to continue to depth which could eventually yield a substantial underground project with continued deeper drilling. We expect to see these excellent grades reflected in the maiden mineral resource estimate expected before the end of the second quarter.”
