AMN - MOROCCO: New drilling planned at Zgounder

Maya Gold & Silver plans percussion drilling at its Zgounder Silver Project in Morocco to test possible extensions of mineralisation at and near the mine. A specific aim is to test the extent of a previous drill hole which returned 10 metres from 31.3 metres at 1098 g/t silver.

The company also expects to soon receive assay results from 12 diamond drill holes totalling 2281 metres.

Out of these holes, seven were drilled in the Eastern extension, while five others were drilled in the Centre and North portion of Zgounder. The holes were 180 metres to 860 metres east of the Zgounder mill.

During geologic logging of the cores, eight holes showed the presence of native silver as well as sulphide mineralisation of zinc, lead and mercury. The four others also showed the presence of sulphide mineralisation of zinc and lead but no occurrence of visible native silver.

The percussion drilling program will comprise 54 holes for a total of 1080 metres and has been prepared by GoldMinds Geoservices (GMG) and Zgounder Millenium Silver Mining (ZMSM) technical team. It will cover an area 260 metres long and 100 metres wide in the North portion.

These holes should enable the evaluation of geometry and true thickness of the mineralised zone.

Maya's president and CEO Noureddine Mokaddem said, "The current diamond drill hole program is positive and encouraging as per core logging findings.

"The team work from the ZMSM geological group under the supervision of chief geologist Mohamed Assalmi and the support of the independent consultant GMG are bearing fruit in the development of the Zgounder Silver Mine resources to the next level. The program is on schedule and such achievable ideas if successful could be a game changer for that portion of the mine."

Meantime, Maya has hired GMG, which is based in Quebec, Canada, to prepare an independent NI-43-101 Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) on his Boumadine polymetallic deposit in Morocco.

The GMG work program will comprise compilation and computerisation of historical information, followed by a field work program including but not limited to verification diamond drilling, trenches, geophysical surveys and historical tailing sampling. This will be followed by mineral resources estimation and completion of a PEA.

Boumadine, which is in the Anti-Atlas Mountains of eastern Morocco, is a joint venture between Maya and L'Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM). The project has an historical estimate of 4.096 million tonnes grading 3.8% zinc, 1.5% lead, 200 g/t silver for 23.9 million ounces and 3.50 g/t gold for 418,000 ounces.

ONHYM is a state-owned company responsible for the promotion of the mining and oil activities of the Kingdom of Morocco.
