Osino Resources Corp has received assay results which extend gold mineralisation at the Goldkuppe project in the Karibib region of Namibia. Goldkuppe is 20km to the northeast of the company's flagship Twin Hills gold project.
Osino drilled 14 core holes during November and December 2018 for a total of 2550 metres at the Oasis and Wedge targets to the south of Goldkuppe.
Wide zones of gold mineralisation were intersected in several holes at Oasis, with best intercepts of 77 metres at 0.4 g/t, 37 metres at 0.5 g/t and 37 metres at 0.4 g/t.
This mineralisation is contained within sheeted quartz-pyrite veins associated with faulting and folding in the banded marble host lithology. These sheeted veins, which have a fairly consistent distribution and grade throughout the mineralised package, strike north-south and dip moderately to the east.
This style of gold mineralisation is typical of the multi-million-ounce Navachab Gold Deposit 30km to the southwest.
The 2018 drilling was a step-out program from the initial scout drilling conducted during December 2017, which returned best gold assays of 49 metres at 0.7 g/t at Oasis and 10 metres at 2.0 g/t at Wedge. The 2018 program was aimed at delineating strike extensions and obtaining data on the structural and lithological controls on mineralisation.
The 2018 results extend the Goldkuppe mineralisation by 2km to the southwest, adding scale and proving that the gold mineralisation extends into the banded marble which forms the footwall to the dolomitic marble.
Low-grade sheeted vein mineralisation in the banded marble footwall indicates the potential for a larger scale, bulk deposit upgraded with the Goldkuppe style high-grade shoots.
The Goldkuppe project is focused on an anticlinal fold in marbles which strikes northeast and plunges in the same direction. The historical exploration focus was on the gossanous shoots within dolomitic marble which produced several high-grade gold intercepts. Goldkuppe also contains wide zones of low-grade skarn mineralisation.
An updated structural interpretation of the ground and airborne magnetics along with satellite imagery was carried out in January 2019.
Future drilling will focus on the north-south structures, including deeper drilling under Goldkuppe Hill as well as the area between Oasis and Goldkuppe Hill.
For the rest of 2019, Osino will focus on advancing Twin Hills and the Karibib Fault trend to the southwest of Twin Hills.
The company has planned an RC/DD drill program at Twin Hills and ongoing calcrete and bedrock sampling along the rest of the trend.
Osino will also continue to advance the Otjikoto East targets and initiate the Otjiwarongo regional, generative exploration program.
