AMN - TANZANIA: Adavale granted nickel tenements

Adavale Resources has been granted nickel tenements for the Kabanga North and North East tenements covering more than 400sqkm, adjoining the Kabanga Nickel Project in Tanzania. The Kabanga project holds one of the world's largest undeveloped high-grade nickel sulphide resources of 58 million tonnes at 2.62% nickel.

On January 9, 2020, Adavale announced that it had submitted applications over the new tenements in the highly prospective high-grade nickel region, which hosts the world-class Kabanga project.

Following this, the Tanzanian Ministry of Minerals and Mining Commission on March 3, officially granted Adavale the Kabanga North and Kabanga North East tenements.

One of the previous owners of the tenements was BHP Group, which conducted airborne radiometric surveys and several other activities.

The Kabanga Nickel Project has demonstrated an easily floated sulphide ore, with approximately 70% of the resource in measured and indicated categories. Data suggests that the quality of the mineralisation is exceptional with low-risk sulphide metallurgy producing low impurity nickel.

In recent times there has been significant interest in acquiring the Kabanga Nickel Project from the government, including interest expressed by top-tier mining companies in addition to some of the world’s largest nickel producers.

Adavale is in discussions with potential JV partners regarding tendering for the project.

Adavale Resources chairman Louis Clinton said: “We are excited with the new Kabanga nickel tenements being successfully granted, as it significantly increases the potential of the project and creates a significant opportunity for the company.

"Adavale’s board and management intend to work closely with the team on the ground to assess the high priority targets.”

Adavale plans to test high-grade targets identified via historic data, with fieldwork to begin shortly.

The company’s geological team has also reviewed historic data, which has been obtained with high-priority targets to be assessed in the near future.
