The board of Jervois Mining has approved a US$1.5 million exploration program for the December 2019 quarter at the Kilembe Area properties in Uganda. This will include $900,000 for initial drilling at the Senator, Eagle and Bond copper-gold showings and $600,000 for further drilling at Bujagali.
The Kilemba Area work will include further rock chip and soil sampling, ground geophysics (magnetics) and 2,500 metres of drilling.
The company has recently completed a detailed soil grid to cover the copper-gold mineralisation within the Kilembe Area properties with 2,265 soil and 441 rock chip samples gathered.
A further 2,500 metres of drilling is also planned at Bujagali.
The mineralisation discovered within the Kilembe Area exploration licences now has a strike length of over 1.7km along parallel structures identified from ground geophysics and is open to the SW and NE.
Although outcrop is limited in the area, three mineralized copper-gold showings have been discovered named Senator, Eagle and Bond.
Highlights include: Senator - 28 rock chip samples with greater than 0.85 g/t gold and up to 16.3 g/t gold, 7.8% copper and 1.06 g/t gold in soil over a strike length of 300 metres; Eagle - 3 rock chip samples greater than 1.7 g/t gold and up to 18.15 g/t gold and 37.8 % copper and 2.76 g/t gold in soil over a strike length of 45 metres; Bond - 10 rock chip samples with greater than 0.75 g/t gold and up to 12.45 g/t gold and 7.1% copper.
From the rock chip sample results received, 43 samples contain greater than 0.75 g/t gold, including 17 samples with greater than 5.03 g/t and 7 samples with greater than 10.45 g/t.
As well, 25 rock chip samples contain greater than 0.11% copper, including 11 samples greater than 1.46%.
From the 2,265 soil sample results received, 621 samples contain greater than 11 parts per billion gold, up to 2.76 g/t, including 30 samples with greater than 51ppb and 7 samples with greater than 0.2 g/t.
Initial drilling has concluded at Bujagali, which targeted the Waragi copper-cobalt anomalies. Jervois expects final results during October.
